About South Jersey
Evangelism
South Jersey Evangelism, Incorporated, was founded by Bob Ponchot
in March 1990.
OUR PURPOSE:
TO ASSIST in the establishment of churches
after the pattern set forth in the New Testament whose members shall be known simply as "Christians" and whose
terms of admittance shall be identical with those set forth in the New Testament, being: Faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of The Living
God; Matthew 16:16. Repentance
of sins; Luke 13:13. A public confession of said faith; Matthew 10:32, Acts 8:3. Baptism by immersion in water for the
remission of sins; Acts 2:38, Romans 6:4, Mark 16:15.
TO PROVIDE financial aid to Evangelist
in the establishment of churches whose pattern is set forth in the New
Testament.
WE BELIEVE:
IN JESUS
CHRIST: That He is the Son of God and came to earth to die for
our sins. It is through the offering of Himself for our sins that we are made righteous before God. 2
Corinthians 5:21
THE BIBLE IS THE WORD
OF GOD: The authority
for what we believe and what we teach is the Bible alone. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is God-breathed
and is useful for teaching...teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness."
SALVATION IS OURS THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST: Biblical faith includes not only our belief in Christ, but trust and obedience.
Jesus said, "Why do you call me Lord, and do not do what I say?" Luke 6:46
BAPTISM IS BY IMMERSION: This is the way
it was practiced in the New Testament; Acts 8:38,39 and Romans 6:3-5. The Bible relates baptism to the
forgiveness of sins(Acts 2:38), the putting on of Christ(Galatians 3:27), and to salvation(Mark
16:16).
COMMUNION IS TO BE
TAKEN WEEKLY ON THE LORD'S DAY: The Lord's Supper is a
memorial that Jesus left for His followers. It is to be taken in keeping with the example found in Acts 20:7,
which says, "On the first day of the week we came together to break bread." The Apostle Paul explains communion in
1 Corithians 11:23-30.
THE DISCIPLES WERE
CALLED CHRISTIANS: Acts 11:26, 1 Peter 4:16, Acts
26:28. We wear the name Christian to honor our Lord Jesus Christ. We are neither Catholic nor
Protestant, but Christians only.
