THE YEAR OF THE ELECTION

Here it is, 2012, the year of a very important election. Some are saying that if we don’t change this present administration, we are doomed as a nation. Others are espousing that our only hope is to become “global” in our thinking and take from the haves and give to the have nots. That’s what all this “occupying” seems to be about! And so, most Americans are putting their “eggs” into one basket or the other, believing that their political party will be the salvation of America.

I don’t believe that spiritually minded people really think that way. We have a different view. It is the view from above. It is a view from God’s perspective. Christians believe that God is Sovereign and He rules the nations and He is the deciding factor in all things. Psalm 22:28 says, “For dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.” He determined Israel’s place in the world and the time of their falling. He raised up Syria and Babylon to chastise the “apple of His eye”, Israel.

While it is true that God is Sovereign, His decisions are oftentimes reactions to what His people do or don’t do. God’s warning to Israel is a good example. Deuteronomy 5:32, 33 says, “So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.”

God’s blessings for Israel were predicated on their behavior. His blessings were based on their adherence to His Word and His Way. If this was true in regard to the Jewish Nation, is it not equally true for our so-called “Christian Nation?”

The survival of America will depend on God’s blessing and watch-care and our allegiance to Him. RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION. Whose righteousness? The people’s righteousness.

If we continue to vote God out of America, as we have been doing, then we can expect terrible times in the land. We will be the generation that Paul writes about in 2 Timothy 3, “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

Yes, 2012 will be the year of the election. WHO WILL YOU VOTE FOR?

FOUR BAPTIZED IN DECEMBER

We rejoice as four more were immersed into Christ in December. Milmay had one and Cumberland County baptized three. The Gospel is still the power of God for salvation.

As we begin this New Year we ask that you continue to remember this work in your prayers and finances. There is much to do in this part of our country. If we continue to lift up our Lord, He will draw others to Him. Let us all preach Christ and His church.
