I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH
Jesus said, "On this rock I will build my church." Matthew 16:18. Contrary to what millions believe,
Peter is not "Rocky!" The church was never built on any sinful man. It was built on the solid foundation that Jesus
is the Christ the Son of the living God. And the basis for membership into that church is predicated on what a
person believes about Jesus, not Peter! Peter had said to Jesus, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living
God." The reason the church is built on Jesus is because He is the Savior of the church. Romans 5:9 says,
"We have now been justified by His blood." Romans 8:32 affirms, "He who did not spare His own Son, but
gave Him up for us all." We read in Hebrews 2:9, "By the grace of God He might taste death for
everyone." And 1 Peter 1:19 reveals, "You were redeemed...with the precious blood of Christ." The
church is built on Jesus because He is its Savior.
The church is built on Jesus because He is the Head of the church. Ephesians 1:22 says, "And God place all
things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church." Colossians 1:18 teaches
that, "He is the head of the body the church." This then leaves no room for popes, cardinals,
denominational machinery, or any other ecclesiastical human agency to elevate itself to that position that belongs
to Jesus and to Jesus alone. He alone is the Head of His church.
The Head speaks through the Word of God. He communicates to His church through Scripture. The authority for the
church must never be the church, but Scripture and Scripture alone. The Bible alone is the Bible alone! Paul said
in 2 Timothy 3:16, "All Scripture is God-breathed."
Our time is now! There must be in place a people who believe the Book, preach the Book, and live by the Book!
May that people be those of us who know and enjoy our great freedom in Christ. We need to be there for those
wandering souls who have been enslaved to a system, whose end can only be eternal destruction. Jesus wants to build
His church and He is looking for faithful servants to work for Him.
